STORY BEHIND THIS DESIGN
According to a legend of The Aztec, the town of
Tenochtitlan (today’s Mexico) was founded on the very place where opuntia cactus grew. And that particular opuntia - also known as prickly pear - was as tall as a tall tree! When people first came to the place, they saw an eagle sitting on opuntia and eating a snake. The Mexico coat of arms has the legendary scene as its central part.
