Meet Tatiana

Glad to welcome you at my digital studio and craft shop. I am Tatiana Popova, author of the Crewel Embroidery and The Seasons in Silk Ribbon Embroidery books published by Search Press.

Since very childhood I have been fond of flowers and embroidery. I studied floristry design and dreamt of my florist business, but that dream was not to come true. It was very hard for me to accept, and I was desperately looking for an alternative way of dealing with flowers on a daily basis. Eventually I found the art of silk ribbon embroidery and started stitching flower bouquets in silk ribbon and thread.

In 2009 I made my first steps in the embroidery business by tutoring and participating craft events. By the early summer of 2011 my first series of ribbon embroidery kits were available and I was invited to participate the Beads Create Japan craft show in Tokyo. My Victorian Bouquet ribbon embroidery design was a success, and the next year I taught classes in Yokohama. That was the beginning of my international tutoring, and since 2013 I had been exhibiting and teaching a lot at craft events both in the UK and USA. That same year I published my first embroidery book which soon became a bestseller. In early 2017, missing my surface embroidery, I designed my first crewel embroidery pattern. And I was much surprised to see the high demand for a kit, so I started crewel work on a business scale also. That lead me to a new page in my design, tutoring and book writing.
